If Tom Waits had come from Widnes , he might of dreamt up the La’s Sweet 35.
Bill Prince (NME 1986)

Their deadpan blues/rock n roll songs are exquisitely cool and slightly surreal.
Penny Kiley (Melody Maker 1986)

The La’s 1986-1987 'Callin' All' Deluxe EditionThe La’s 1986-1987 ‘Callin’ All’ Deluxe Edition (Viper 062) 2009
The La’s are one of the most enigmatic bands of the last few decades releasing only a handful of singles and one critically acclaimed album which was disowned by the band itself. Lee Mavers the singer/songwriter had stated time and time again, that the closest he came to capturing his perfect vision was with the original recordings which appear here along many other unreleased rarities. They have a spirit and freshness that could never be recaptured and are the blueprint of what followed. You the listener now have the choice to decide for yourselves. A must-have for fans worldwide.

Features previously unreleased recordings + a 20 page booklet containing unseen photos/artwork + in depth liner notes. Released on CD and Download.

The La's '1984-1986 Breakloose'The La’s ‘1984-1986 Breakloose’ (Viper 052) 2009
The mythology that has grown around The La’s has made them one of the most enigmatic bands of the last few decades. The story began in a bleak mid-80’s Liverpool, with a chance meeting between two unemployed musicians, Lee Mavers and Mike Badger. Over the next two years they co-wrote material which appears here on ‘Breakloose’. Influenced by the likes of Howlin’ Wolf, Captain Beefheart and described as ‘Surreal Rock ‘n’ Roll’ , the results are raw & spirited with classic song writing to the fore, defining a unique and creative time in the band’s history and pointing the way to future success. Features previously unreleased recordings + a 20 page booklet containing unseen photos/artwork + in depth liner notes.Released on CD and Download.

Elegance Charm and Deadly DangerElegance Charm and Deadly Danger (Compilation 1985 – Push Records)<
The title of this album came from a post card of Lady Penelope (who appears on the cover). The Compilation was put together by St.Helens promoter David Evans- a former band mate of Carl Davies and Mike Badger. Each band had three minutes of time allocated on the album, because the two selections by The La’s where only one and a half minutes each, they got to put two tracks on. These are the first Badger/Mavers compositions to be released. John Peel played ‘Reindeer’ at the time.

  • Sweet 35
  • My Girl Sits Like A Reindeer
